The redesign project aims to increase the leisure space of Graduate Institute of Precision Engineering department in National Chung Hsin University.
Considering the needs and population of graduate students, I designed lots of spaces for them to chat, discuss and rest. I kept the design as simple as possible so that the student who are under a lot of pressure can truly relax after doing various complex experiments.
The space is used as a public square. Therefore, I design a large area of wooden platform which allows people doing leisure activities, chatting or walking on it. The light equipments will set under the wooden platform which makes the environment more safe and comfortable during night time.
Steps and Seats
The steps under the trees creates a natural space for people to sit down and chat according to human behaviors. The seats will be set at the edge of the wooden platform which are still part of the structure. People can distinguish them by their color and texture.
To create an interesting experience of the garden, one side of the pavement will cover by the grass and the other side will be cover by brown bricks.
The flowers in the parterre will be changed in response to different seasons and festivals.
The gutter will be set below the wooden platforms so that people won’t see it directly. It prevents people from falling into the gutter incautiously and also keeps the whole space simple and neat.
